Mabou’s Feis Fuar Winter Festival returns February 14th to 16th

Feis Fuar is Gaelic for “cold festival.” May sound chilly, but the fun activities will keep everyone warmed up. This year’s events take place in West Mabou and Mabou. The organizing committee looks forward to having this annual event grow. Take a bite out of winter and join in the fun.
The festival kicks off Friday evening, February 14th, with Moonlight Snowshoe and Cross-Country Ski event starting from West Mabou Hall at 7:00 p.m. Snowshoes and skis will be provided for those who don’t have equipment. Hot drinks and snacks will follow.
Saturday evening, the West Mabou Square Dance will provide the opportunity to step inside away from the cold. Music will be by Mike Hall and Mac Morin. Get your snowshoes off and step ‘er off. Music from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Sunday, February 16th, is the big day with outdoor and indoor events. Starting at noon until 3:00 p.m. there will be three-on-three pond hockey, skating on the oval and tobogganing all located at Norman Angus Central’s pond (next to Duncreigan Inn). In West Mabou, starting at 2:00 p.m., there will be snow yoga, 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. guided cross-country ski and snowshoe trek and snow sculpturing. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. youth tug of war. Tantalize your taste buds with maple snow cones.
Tim Horton’s hot chocolate will be served at Angus Central’s and West Mabou Hall.
Something unique this year, will be Storyteller’s Hour with stories of winter’s past. Gather round from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in West Mabou Hall to share a story or two.
Supper will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ($5). Homemade Chili, biscuits, and apple crisp will be served and there will be live entertainment.
Should there be rain or no snow, the alternate date for Sunday’s events will be Sunday, February 23rd.
