Hands Dancing visual arts display
June 29, 2022
Inverness County Centre for the Arts annual members’ exhibition Hands Dancing opens this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Inverness. Hands Dancing runs from July 2nd to July 31st, gallery and shop hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Exhibitions at ICCA are sponsored exclusively by Protocase.
“Hands Dancing is ICCA’s annual showcase of all the wonderfully varied and beautiful works the people of Inverness County and ICCA members have created in celebration of visual arts,” said ICCA chair Jim Mustard.
The Hands Dancing exhibit is a show of artwork started in the 1980s. The first venue to host the show was the Inverness Legion, it then moved to the upstairs of the Inverness Post Office. When the Inverness County Centre for the Arts was built in 2003, the exhibit found its current home, where it has been well received. The exhibit was named by local artist and former ICCA chair Virginia McCoy. It is the only non-juried show that ICCA hosts.
“We take great pride in supporting arts and culture across Cape Breton, as we believe it enriches and inspires daily life,” says Steve Lilley, president and CEO of Protocase Inc. “On behalf of the whole team at Protocase, I wish the Inverness County Centre for the Arts all the best as it kicks off the Hands Dancing exhibit.”
The opening reception will feature music from Jason Roach and Gillian Head. The event is free to attend. For more information, please visit www.invernessarts.com or call 902-258-2533.
