It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sister, Mary Georgina Girouard Hartney, who passed away on December 19th, 2025, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born on November 6th, 1953, she was a resident of MacDonald Hall for 16 years, where she made it her home, well looked after and cared for by all. Georgina is survived by: son, Kane Hartney, England; daughters Astra Corey, Laroque, Alberta; and Grace Chaisson, Margaree; and her grandchildren, Leon and Ainsley, Laroque; and Marieka, Margaree. She is also survived by brother Simon; sisters Susan Girouard, Sudbury, Ontario; Mary Catherine Doyle, Mississauga, Ontario; Evelyn Hartley, N.W.T.; and Sylvia Poirier, Inverness; and 49 nieces and nephews. A graveside service for family only will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. in West Lake Ainslie Cemetery, West Lake Ainslie. A reception will be held after the graveside service at the local legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Kenneth Angus “Gordon” MacLean, July 10th,1931 ~ June 5th, 2026: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Angus “Gordon” Maclean, age 94, at the Foyer Père Fiset. He faced his final days with the same strength and resilience that defined his life. Gordon was a very wise and polite man, known for his deep sense of character, kindness, and a strong work ethic that defined his entire life. He was a remarkably hard worker who didn’t just work out of necessity – he genuinely loved to work and found great purpose, pride, and fulfillment in a job well done. He cherished time spent camping, sitting by the fire, and taking in nature. He also had a massive heart for dogs, especially his beloved dog and faithful companion, Molly, who brought immense joy, comfort, and friendship to his years. Whether he was sharing his wisdom with family, relaxing at a campsite, or gathered around a table for a favorite game of cards, Gordon loved sharing good times, laughs, and stories with those around him. He is survived by his loving daughter, Wanda Deveau (Robert); his sons, Barry Maclean (Michelle) and Patrick Maclean (Joan); and his dear brother, Bernie Maclean (Betty). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara; his mother, Mary Jane; his father, Duncan; and his sister, Florence. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Pleasant Bay at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9th, 2026.
