Ruby MacKay, 85, of Whale Cove, passed away Saturday, May 9th, 2026 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, with her dedicated husband of 65 years, Arthur, at her side. Born in MacLean Cove, she was a daughter of the late Haverstock and Jessie (Evans) MacLean. Ruby graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1958 and taught in Hillsborough, North East Margaree, and Margaree Harbour over a seven-year period. She was an active member of Calvin United Church serving as organist for over 60 years, starting when she was a teenager. Along with her husband, Arthur, and brother and sister-in-law, Al and Rosie, they operated Whale Cove Summer Village for over 30 years. Many great friendships were formed during this time. Ruby was predeceased by daughters, Gail and Treena; son, Wendell; grandson, Davin; sisters, Marie and Adelaide; and brother, John. She is survived by foster daughter, Michelle (Shelly); and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. The nieces and nephews thank Uncle Arthur for his dedicated loving care, which along with the incredible home care support, nursing services, and palliative care team, allowed Aunt Ruby to stay at home. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will take place in Calvin United Church, Margaree Harbour at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th, with Rev. Alicia Cox officiating. Margaret “Jackie” MacNeil, age 82, of Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 29th, 2026, in the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. She was a daughter of the late Michael “Mick” and the late Sarah (Kendall) Burns. Before going to the Foyer Père Fiset, she loved going for drives in the park, hoping to see any moose, deer or bears. Jackie was very happy to be in the Foyer with her husband, of 56 years, Joseph Arthur. She made many friends while at the Foyer, and enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts with her friend Dorothy. She will be missed by her family and friends. Thank you to everyone who took such good care of her. God Bless! Jackie is survived by her husband, Joseph Arthur Camus; sons, Jimmy Burns (Isabel), Neil Crowe, and step-son, Kevin Camus (Jenn); daughter, Barbara Camus, step-daughters, Darlene MacIsaac (Joe), and Debbie Gosse (Gary); brother, Michael “Pepper” Burns; and 19 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Besides her parent, Jackie was predeceased by her son, Michael Camus; daughter, Charlene Camus; daughter-in-law, Dawn Crowe; and granddaughter, Skylar Crowe; brothers, John, Mike, Andrew, Frankie, and Ray Johnie “Mick”; and sisters, Mary Ellen, Florence, Caroline, Theresa, and Marion. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, with Father Daniel Gustave officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
