MacLELLAN

Ronald Archibald MacLellan, 1943 – 2026: With deep sadness, we share the passing of Ronald Archibald MacLellan, who left us unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, in his 83rd year. Ron was the devoted husband of 38 years to his beloved Margaret (Nee MacNeil) and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. He was the proud father of Steven MacLellan and a caring stepfather to Alan MacNeil, Patricia Hay (Rod), Raylene MacNeil, Lawrence MacNeil (Kathy), and Kimberly Hachey (Stephen). His heart was fullest when surrounded by his large and lively family. He cherished each grandchild – Emerson, Michael (Kayla), Jeffery (Meghan), Taylor (Robyn), Elliott, Lyndon (Anne Sophie), Quinn (Jonathan), Thomas (Sarah), and Alana (Jordan) – and took great joy in his great-grandchildren, Ava, Nora, Sylas, and Cassian. Predeceased by his parents, John Angus (“Jack”) MacLellan and Margaret Isabelle (“Belle”) MacIsaac; his sister Anne McKinley (Ronald); sister-in-law Elain MacLellan; brother-in-law Vincent MacDonald; and Ralph Sanford. Ron grew up in Cape Breton and carried its warmth, humour, and sense of community throughout his life. He was a loving brother to Joe (Elain), Betty (Vincent), and Debbie (Ralph), and treasured the many cousins and relatives he kept close, both in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Ron lived a life full of simple joys and meaningful moments. He and Margy shared a love of travel, laughter, and time spent on their boat, the Dunvegan II. In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced in the spring, when family and friends can come together to share stories, memories, and love. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be shared at www.pelhafuneralhome.ca.
