Sixty-four runners take part in 43rd Annual Hugh Arnold Campbell race

Runners are dotted along the scenic Celtic Shores Coastal Trail south of Nicholson’s Island in Southwest Mabou which is the route the 10k runners took in the 43rd Annual Hugh Arnold Campbell Memorial race on Saturday.

The Inverness County running season is, well, off and running!
    The Hugh Arnold Campbell Memorial race marked the start of the festival season in the county and is the first road race on the circuit.


    This year 64 runners took part, including 21 fun runners, 19 in the 10k race and 24 in the 5k.
    The fastest male in the in the 5k race was Youth U18 competitor Jayden Cameron who came in at 19 minutes 14 seconds. The quick time was likely aided by the three other runners in the Youth Male U18 division who were all within 86 seconds of each other: Hayden Gillies, 19:36; Ben Swinkles, 19:56; and Ethan Gillis, 20:43.
    And it was a Youth Female U18 runner who had the fastest 5k time. Clementine MacLeod stopped the watch at 19:34.
    In the 10k races, Jeremy Burton turned in an Open Male time of 38:14 for the fastest time overall.
    And Kate MacInnes, running the Masters Female division, had the top women’s time overall of 41:23.
