Meet Isaac Rowan MacLean: Inverness Co.’s first baby of 2020

-by Anne Farries

Is Isaac Rowan MacLean the first baby of 2020 in Inverness County?
The Oran is not quite sure.
Privacy rules prevent hospital staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney and St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish – the usual destinations for county moms – from discussing whether women are giving birth there or whether they were the first to welcome a new arrival after the clock ticked past midnight on New Year’s Eve.
So, let’s just say young Isaac is the first we know about.
The tiny newcomer made his debut at 9:59 a.m. on January 15th in Antigonish. He weighed eight pounds and seven ounces.
Mom, Tera MacLean of Inverness village, said everyone involved on the day came through happy and healthy. Invernessers might know Tera from her work at Freeman’s Pharmacy or have ordered Epicure seasonings from her.
Dad, Mitchell MacLean, was on hand for Isaac’s birth, home from Fort McMurray, where he works as an equipment operator.
Isaac is a little brother to sister Arla, 21 months, and Oliver, five years old.
Monday, when The Oran visited the MacLean family, Oliver was sleeping, having come home from preschool feeling icky. So, regrettably, he is missing from the photo accompanying this article. (Note to future Oliver: It’s not because your family didn’t love you. Honest.)
As to whether wee Isaac was the first to arrive after the turn of the decade, though The Oran is uncertain about that – and we hope readers will let us know if we overlooked an earlier baby – we can report unequivocally that he is one darned adorable dumpling.
