There is not one person, not one family, that hasn’t been impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
The folks at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation just gave a big thank you to the Municipality of the County of Inverness.
“Thank you for giving where you live, because you care,” they said.

Keith MacDonald, CAO of the Municipality of the County of Inverness, recently paid them a visit to present a $100,000 cheque for the Cancer Care at Home Campaign.
“Council realizes there is a significant number of people from Inverness County who rely on the services of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre,” said MacDonald.
“The new centre is going to be very important to help service residents all over Cape Breton and help them during difficult times,” he added.
This generous donation will go towards equipment purchases, patient programs, research, and clinical trials, all to enhance cancer care for Cape Bretoners, during their most vulnerable days.
Nova Scotia Cancer Care offers programs and services in two adult cancer centres as well as several community cancer clinics across the province.
The two Cancer Care Centres are located in Sydney and Halifax.
Both of these centres provide a full range of cancer programs and services including: medical, radiation, gynecology, hematology, treatment, and follow-up. They have a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals to help patients and their families cope with the physical, emotional, and financial impact of cancer and its treatment.
The Cape Breton Cancer Centre is located at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
In addition to cancer programs and services provided in Sydney, the centre also provides some chemotherapy treatments, consultation, and follow-up services at community cancer clinics in Antigonish and Inverness.
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of those who choose to donate, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is able to help strengthen health care in Cape Breton.
To date, more than $55 million has been raised and contributed to enhancing health care in our region.
