Warden Bonny MacIsaac lays the first wreath on the new Broad Cove Monument, with Father Danny MacLennan, just following the blessing.

There are so many time when you fail to see what is right before your eyes.
It takes awareness and the brains to make something positive out of a seemingly gathering of community information.
Roddy MacLennan walked through one of those entitling doors about two years ago as he paid a visit to his parish cemetery in Broad Cove.
Of the more than 800 people buried is this pioneer cemetery, he came to the sudden realization that here were 106 soldiers who fought in the major wars that help safeguard the freedom
of Canada.
Roddy, wit the help of Mary MacEachern, did the research and learned that these soldiers, all 106 of them, had the distinction of sacrificing their youth more per capita than few other locations in Canada.
It was decided to erect a monument to those who fought in the wars from the Broad Cove area.
And on Saturday, at noon, a large crowd came out to the St. Margaret of Scotland Church, in a rainstorm, to erect the new monument.
It was blessed by another Borad Cove son, Father Danny MacLennan, and unveiled by Cathy MacLellan in LeGrow, niece of Donald Angus McLellan who was killed in service, and daughter of John, who service. Assisting the unveiling was Warden Bonny MacIsaac, Municipality of Inverness County and councillor for District #3 (Broad Cove).
Roddy MacLennan welcomed everyone to the unveiling saying:
We are honoured to have Fr. Danny MacLennan, County Warden and District #3 Councillor Bonny MacIsaac, and District #4 Councillor John MacLennan.
This is a special occasion, an occasion which we honour and remember the sacrifice of our war veterans in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. These one hundred and six brave men left their parents, wives, children, sisters, brothers, relatives, friends, neighbours, and a community that was familiar to them, to take their part in the fight for peace, security, and freedom.
They were farmers, lumbermen, fishermen, teachers, mechanics, miners, clergy, and so on, who had courage, determination and fortitude.
It is our duty to honour their service and sacrifice. We are all the benefactors of their courageous service which gave us peace, security, and freedom.
Today, we celebrate the dedication of this monument, a permanent place to honour, reflect and remember these men who served our country for all of us.
This project could not be done without the contribution of all those individuals who contributed financially, with honourable mention to The Municipality of Inverness, Blackstone Construction, Ideal Concrete, Ironworkers Union Local 752 and John Wilson, Hugh Allan Cameron,
Stanley and Margie Beaton, Kathleen Poirier at the parish office, and special mention to Mary MacEachern for her encouragement and research assistance.
