Letter: Not funny, ha ha!

Dear Editor:

I noticed on page 14 of the October 9th edition of The Oran that Inverness County introduced a new by-law, stating what not to put into the sewer system.
It’s ironic or funny (not funny ha-ha) that Inverness County would issue a new by-law that includes: Wastewater having a pH less than 5.5 or greater than 9.5 or having any other corrosive or scale forming properties capable of causing damage or hazards to the wastewater facilities of personnel or the wastewater facilities.
This begs the question, when are they going to issue a fine to themselves, for introducing what we have had to call drinking water in Inverness for almost the past decade? The water is so hard, that you can walk on it… (and we all know its been several thousand years since that happened). Will they take the surplus of funds, collected from the fines they levy against themselves and refund homeowners for the costs of water heaters, heating coils, furnaces, dishwashers, faucets, etc.?

Clifton Sangster,
Inverness
