Dear Editor,
I find it ironic that Neil MacEwan would slap the wrists of the British Government for destroying Xmas for its citizens while at the same time delivering the horrible holiday bitterness of impending, weightless doom that will send us on a path of eternal painful existence, especially the depressing nuggets of wisdom that are sure to ruin one’s day, such as those “few old people dying of the flu a few weeks prematurely.” Pleasant.
Fortunately, those elder souls of my home county keep showing up like the party just started, while for others, the world is perpetually ending. We are all getting older, and a bit worn out, but being cynical is far worse than getting worn out. Dead and miserable at 40, buried at 90, and 50 years of refusing to enjoy anything. That’s a hard thing to do in Cape Breton.
