Letter: An open letter to Joe O'Connor

Dear editor,

(An open letter to Joe O’Connor)

I am writing for your assistance in a matter that could prove to endanger residents or visitors and is a public nuisance. This past Summer 2014, six unsightly stone blocks have been placed on Central Avenue and completely block off Pinko Lane by a “resident” who has historically been absent for most of the year. There is no good reason for these blocks, other than to inconvenience neighbours and businesses in apparently some form of ridiculous family squabble.

Emergency vehicles and local residents should not be hampered by a misguided land severance that removes a right-of-way that has been used and has proven to be necessary for many years. No other jurisdiction would allow this to continue.

At a time when Inverness is undergoing positive changes, for those of us that choose to live and eek out a living here, this very action is detrimental to us all. I can’t imagine the nightmare for our snow plows and visitors that could hit these blocks. Also, we can’t use the back door of our business because of the property lines. It’s time to review the rights of all of us taxpayers instead of the rights of one.

Thank you for your immediate response and consideration.

Larry Lariviere,

Inverness
