Sarah C. Rankin’s show “Home” features work inspired by family photographs, images taken from 1914 – 1920, and are done in acrylic and mixed media. For more information on her, including an artist statement for the show, visit their website at www.invernessarts.com.
Sarah C. Rankin was born and raised in rural Cape Breton, she began an early art life watching her father paint from his lap as a baby, while he sang and told stories of Cape Breton past. Her aunts would sing old Gaelic songs to her and her large family, which instilled a love of Cape Breton music, while she played on piano. She studied fine art at Mount Allison University for three years and came back home to learn her people’s native tongue, Scottish Gaelic. She continues to paint in Mabou Coal Mines, where she finds the most inspiration from the people, the sea, and the hills.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, only 10 patrons enter the gallery at a time. Sarah C. Rankin will be at the gallery on Saturday, September 5th, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
